New Orleans - The Unforgettable Vacation

New Orleans is just one of those magical places that you have to experience to understand. My first visit there was so incredible that I still feel like I left part of my soul there when I had to return home. I'm not saying I believe in reincarnation, but if I did I would have to believe that my feet had walked the streets of the French Quarter in the past. When I first arrived it felt like I was coming home, and honestly there's no other way I can describe it.

In my book, A Night at Tears of Crimson, Cara discusses her first visit to this incredible city. Most of what she talks about comes from my first step into the French Quarter. There was definitely the smell of stale beer on the sidewalks but that scent quickly turns into scents of the flowers growing in the garden, or the aroma of some of Louisiana's incredible food. It's like a bombardment of your senses when you first experience it and trying to take it all in is incredible.

The street performers are everywhere and the talent that abounds is amazing to behold. Artists sharing their beautiful creations, musicians filling your ears with haunting melodies, and a wide range of different performers everywhere you look can be found. It's so easy to get caught up in the festive atmosphere that never seems to rest. I describe it as an entire community sharing one heartbeat and it putting a pulse throughout every street. Imagine all the colors of the rainbow surrounding you and combining in a way that overwhelms your senses and you have a idea of what it feels like to walk through the Quarter.

From the early morning to late in the evening there is always some form of entertainment happening. People from all walks of life will find something to keep them smiling. We started our mornings enjoying a walk to the French Market and enjoying all the shops along the way. Our afternoons were spent enjoying the incredible restaurants and watching the shows that took place on every corner. During the nights we found several nightclubs that appealed to all the different tastes of the members of our group.

The people, the culture and the history of this incredible city will have you wanting to return time and time again. I can definitely say that New Orleans is my favorite vacation spot. I encourage you to plan your next vacation in this magical wonderland, it's a trip I know you won't regret.
