On the run across the country to the Paranormal Parliament in the hopes of helping all supernatural kind, he and his older brothers don’t have many options for refuge when every law enforcement agency is after them. There’s only one group in the area that has the power and protection they need to shake the heat… And it’s the one place where there seems to be a great deal of history between two of his brothers and the one vouching for them.

But is the price for the help they need more than they’re willing to pay?

Family always comes first to Chicago, so he makes a deal with the devil, and a few vampires on the side, to get the help they need to survive the mission ahead. And after a night of passion and a fantasy come true, Chicago has allies he never dreamed of—one even willing to risk his life, joining their mission to spark a relationship with Chicago. There’s not time for love when you’re trying to save the world though… Is there?
Things never go as planned, and instead of finding the man of his dreams, Chicago realizes he might end up with a broken heart at the end of the journey. It seems silly to worry about that though when millions of lives are at stake if they don’t get the information he found to the right people. Funny how Chicago can’t seem to focus on much else given it’s his first love and his family will probably live with Aurelo’s coven… If they’re still alive by the time they reach their leaders.

Flynn has always been interested in the darker aspects of life and mythologies—especially vampires, shifters, the occult, and anything paranormal—ignoring the nuns at her grammar school who thought her a demon worshiper. Her outward appearance and personality doesn't exactly fall in line with her twisted humor either, and Flynn gets a kick out of people's initial reaction to how "normal" she is. So, after publishing over 100 titles under various names, it is finally time to unleash the evil twin, allowing Flynn the freedom to pursue the darker side of her imagination.

The Coming Storm (Shifting Reality #1)

“What the fuck happened, Chicago?” Phoenix asked me again. I glanced at Seattle. He’d told me not to tell anyone what I’d found. “This was supposed to be a simple snatch and download. You promised us you could do this, baby brother. Now you’ve fucked us with the PP and the NSA. It was bad enough that the PP were pissed at us before, but if they find out about this, we’re dead—if the humans don’t kill us first.”
“It’s not my fault!” I heard a loud crash behind us after Boston fired his gun a few more times. His leg twitched as a signal to get off him, and I darted back into my seat, clicking my belt in place just in time so I didn’t go flying when Seattle once again took a corner too fast.

As he did I caught a glimpse of the dirty underpass with garbage cans off to the side that looked as if people had been using them to light fires in to keep warm. Prior to Boston rolling back up his window and as Seattle made another turn onto the on ramp, an acidic, nasty scent hit my nose and I winced when I realized it was old piss. Sometimes having an advanced sense of smell wasn’t the best thing. But if bums were living beneath that underpass, yeah, made sense they’d go there too.

“What did you find that Seattle had us immediately destroy anything that could be traced?” Milwaukee asked loudly, the noise from losing the back window and the vehicles still after us deafening. “We all just got new phones and you know how cheap he is. He wouldn’t have us smash and leave them unless he knew someone would be looking.”

“Wait, so you didn’t screw up?” Boston shouted, glancing back at me with his head tilted to the side before searching my face as if it would hold the answers he wanted.
“No, baby bro might have just saved the lives of every paranormal in the world,” Seattle said proudly. “If we can live to get it to the PP.”

“You want to go to Washington, DC, to see the Paranormal Parliament who is pissed at us and will want our heads after they hear about this?” Boston’s eyes were practically bugging out of his head as he stared at Seattle. When our eldest brother just nodded, he let out a litany of cuss words. “What the hell did you find out, Chicago?”

I swallowed loudly before meeting Seattle’s eyes in the rearview mirror again. “That we’re all very fucked.” And that’s when another bullet hit the SUV… And one of my brothers shouted in pain.

“Hadley, the PP was in on the plot,” Director Woodrow informed me. I felt my eyes practically bug out of my head at the news. “I know. I wish my suspicions hadn’t been correct, but they were, and now I’m glad I pressed for the malamutes to leave copies with us. I’ve talked with Director Fabian, and we have a place with their coven since we need to relocate and they have the perfect set-up.”

I had to swallow twice to clear the lump in my throat before I could speak. “What do you need me to do, Director?”

“Fly.” I nodded as he handed me a USB drive. “I’m tasking you with the Prince of the felines. Their elder is also their King and they haven’t ever been led by someone who wasn’t of the royal family. They’ll fall into chaos if something happens to him.”

I didn’t think my eyes could get any wider than at the implication. “Someone’s taking over the PP?”
“They sold us out and were setting us up like slaughter animals instead of doing what they promised for their people. I don’t know the details, but yeah, someone will take the traitors out.”

I realized I truly didn’t feel bad about that. They brought it on themselves. “Good. What about things here? Where do I go after?” Then I had another thought. “Is Chicago okay?”

He filled me in on the abbreviated plan, assuring me someone would pack my belongings and bring them. “Stay with the Prince and escort him along with his court to the new location. Do not divulge where they’re going until we know for sure all of them are on our side. The Prince will be, he hates his father. But the rest? We don’t know enough to take that chance. Once we’re at the stronghold, Director Fabian assures me it’s basically a fortress.

“And apparently Chicago is going to figure out how to hack missile guidance systems. But if the location is found out, the humans could start intercepting refugees on the way. We need him and his brothers. Director Fabian assured me they’re being detained but with whatever’s going on, they’ll get out first.”
Well thank fuck for that. I’d been hoping for another taste of that sweet little shifter. Plus, I just liked the guy and his brothers. I didn’t want any of them hurt. “I understand, Director. I won’t fail.”

“I know, which is why I’m sending you.” I gave him a solemn nod and hurried to my room so I could undress before shifting.

Hey, I was wearing my favorite jeans and sneakers. I wanted those packed up and brought to my new home. Then I let the change flow over me, grabbed the plastic wrapped USB drive in my talon, and flew out the window.

There were perks to flying over driving. I could fly faster than natural owls being a shifter—twice as fast if I pushed it, capping out at over a hundred twenty miles per hour, so that made my travel time less than if I were driving.

However, that was exhausting.

However, I didn’t have to deal with traffic on any freeway.

However, I couldn’t bring much… Like clothes
.
So, as everything in life, there were perks and drawbacks to both sides. It just wasn’t an option to drive with eyes and ears on us. As a snowy owl—yes, snowy no matter who called us snow owls—we could blend in with other animals and were harder to track.

But that didn’t make flying all the way to Louisiana any easier, and with the importance of my mission, I was scared to take many breaks or for too long. I did my best to try and take in the scenery as it raced by, but mostly it was blurry and just depressed me. There was a very good, very dangerous, reason I had to fly so fast. Gods, I was ready to take a three day nap when I recognized the outlying of New Orleans.
Director Woodrow had shown me a map of Prince Folkvar’s compound so I could easily pick out his balcony. Rude? Yes, but now wasn’t the time to jump through the normal hoops and risk the answer being, he’s in a meeting.

When I landed on the ledge of his private terrace, I realized that was exactly what he was in.
Yes, my Prince!” the gorgeous woman his cock was meeting in exclaimed. “Being with you is always so wondrous. The gifts the gods bestowed upon you are infinite.”
I wanted to roll my eyes at the dialogue. I saw every detail as an owl, though, and realized it was quite the performance on her part. When the Prince went to kiss her quiet, she pushed up her tits as an offering.
“Please, my Prince. I know how you love to feast on them and bring us both pleasure.”
The man growled and attacked them. It wasn’t seeing him take care of breasts that had me shivering—it was the growl.

I studied the Prince from behind, getting lost in the movements of his strong body. The muscles in his marble-hard back moved fluidly and drew attention to his athletic body. Swimmer-like, lean shoulders showed every flex and release of the power under his skin. I caught glimpses of his elegant neck as his longer blond hair with orange lowlights shifted with his exertion.

Not orange with blond highlights. No, that would be too common for a man this gorgeous. He was mostly blond with very natural orange lowlights that made his hair almost seem like fire as the light danced off it.
I moved lower, checking out his trim hips, strong legs, but still lean, sleek thighs. Damn, he had a well-formed body.

I wanted him. I wanted him bad.

“Boston, how’s it hanging?” Mav asked as his way of greeting.

“It doesn’t hang when I get in a plane,” I answered, knowing his code question and answer all too well.
“Dude, where have you been? It’s been like forever. What can I do you for?”

“I need to confirm some airstrips with you, get more on the list, and rent every available plane you can get me.” I didn’t see any reason to beat around the bush.

“You airlifting Canada to Mexico?” he joked, even though worry leaked into his tone.

“Something like that. You heard about Moscow,” I hedged, realizing lots of people had stopped what they were doing to pay attention to me now. “You and I are smart enough to know that wasn’t really about terrorists or a terrorist attack.”

“No, way too organized for the government if it was a legit threat,” he agreed. “What are you saying, Boston? What’s coming?”

“For sure? I don’t know. But I’m getting the fuck off the grid and making sure all the people who have been good to me, or will be an asset in the days ahead, are coming with me. You feel me?” I thumbed my ear, waiting for what he was going to say and praying he didn’t ask for more specifics.

“Yeah, I hear you loud and clear. I’ll take the news and advice as a personal favor since I know you have other options when it comes to what you need now.”

Not actually since our other contact for getting in the air if we needed it secretly died because he was an old elder. I shrugged at Seattle. Mav didn’t need to know that.

Shut it,” Seattle hissed when the room got too loud. “We need the map.”

“I made markers for you,” Phoenix offered, looking pale and sweaty.

Yeah, I felt the same. I took them with a nod of thanks and started marking the map with what Mav was telling me, relaying the planes we could have access to at each one for Seattle to take note.
“Boston, we’re friends but we’re not good enough friends I’m going to let this all go on credit,” Mav finished with.

“I’ve got that covered. I’m bringing the banker of the project,” I assured him, glancing at Samantha. She nodded and held up a note. Give me a dollar amount. I could do that.

Millions.

“You’re a fan of rocks, right?”

“Always,” Mav answered and I could practically hear the smile in his voice.

Misery Hailing Down (Shifting Reality #4)

I was easy. I was easy to get into bed, easygoing, easy to please, easy on the eyes—from what I’d heard—and just about any other form of easy. I didn’t like drama. I preferred to work hard, be happy, and just have fun.

But I wanted love. Sure, sure, we all do. That was part of being a person—craving it, wanting it and to belong.

Apparently they didn’t all have a target on them somewhere that just drew assholes to them.
“No, you’ll be dropping this whole Royal Guard nonsense, Konrad,” Olave informed me with a dismissive wave as we stepped off the plane to the stronghold.

“I’m sorry, what?” I whispered as I trailed after him, my heart dropping into my stomach. Talk about getting indigestion. A couple nights of hot sex and being fawned all over did not make me suddenly a doormat.
“You should be for questioning me, especially now,” he growled, adjusting his neck. “I ask for submission, Konrad. It’s not a difficult concept.”

“In bed,” I hissed as I grabbed his arm and tried to pull him off to the side. “That’s not the same as deciding my life for me.”

He narrowed his eyes at me as if I was a bug annoying him. “I know what’s best for both of us.”
He shrugged me off, and I froze there for several moments before hurrying to catch up when I heard my name.

“Yes, and Konrad Floriano’s things will be put in my room,” Olave was telling the vampire checking people in.

“No, no, they won’t,” I snarled as I joined them, slapping my hand on the table. “I will take whatever room my King has set up for me. I have no ties to the horses or this control freak who’s acting like we’re married or he owns me.”

“I told you not to question me and you have the gall to disrespect me!”

There was a loud crack in the room and it took me a moment to realize the sound had been made against my face… And I was flying through the air. I crashed into a pillar and slid down, blood already dripping down my head.

“Konrad, I’m so sorry,” Olave choked out as he was suddenly squatting in front of me.
I let my hands change to claws as I stared at him, trying to stay conscious. “You got that one for free because of the stress we’re all under. You touch me again and you’ll see how well trained I am. Fuck off, Olave. We’re done.”

“No, of course we’re not,” he argued even as he reached for me. I swiped at him, and he drew back his hand in time.

“What is going on here?” Abram bellowed as he pushed through the crowd. He did a double take when he saw me and started cussing up a storm.

“Don’t let Olave kidnap me to his room,” I mumbled. “He’s controlling and abusive.”

He slid his arms under me and picked me up. “I promise, buddy. I got you.”

“No, this is unacceptable. Konrad is mine and…”

I didn’t hear anything else after that. Abram wouldn’t let me end up chained in Olave’s closet or something. That was all I needed to know before I let the darkness take me.

I was fuzzy when I came back around. I heard medical machines but it was like whatever I’d been dreaming just wasn’t letting me go. And I was pretty sure they had drugged me.

I blinked at the lights and felt as if I were trying to see through plastic wrap. When I realized where I was, I groaned. Med bay was never where someone wanted to wake up… No matter how pristine everything was. My ears hurt from the excess noise, always so many people in there that one sound couldn’t be picked out, bouncing off all the metal surfaces.

When I could see clearly as to who was standing next to me, I winced. Yeah, who doesn’t want to wake to their pissed off King giving you the off with his head look?

“So, you’ve had some fun,” King Torrance drawled as Abram moved to the other side of me to help me sit up. “Go slow with the ice chips. It’s going to take you some time to heal.”

“Wait, why?” I croaked out but stopped from asking anything else when he narrowed his eyes at me.
“We will get your to health, but first we need to handle this diplomatic mess you’ve started,” he seethed. “Now, explain to me why I have dozens of witnesses saying that you verbally accosted Stallion Olave and changed your hand to a paw around him? I thought you liked him? Why start all this shit with the horses, Konrad?”

“I didn’t,” I whispered as my eyes filled with tears. Of course I couldn’t just be assaulted by the guy I was dating. It had to be an international incident. Fan-fucking-tastic.

YOU DON'T KNOW JACK! #ALLABOUTJACK

In case you haven't noticed, insert sarcasm here, we're getting ready to debut a new book from the Tears of Crimson Library.  It's #ALLABOUTJACK, that's the hashtag you can follow on twitter as we get him ready for release day. What the heck, Michelle aren't you still preparing for the Virtual Blog Tour for Fantasy's?  Why yes, yes I am, but like the headline reads, You don't know Jack.  He's an impatient, overbearing, granted sexy as sin man, who wasn't willing to wait to have his ego stroked!

You think I'm kidding?  Let me just go ahead and tell you I'm not!  This smug bastard has implanted himself in my mind and refused to let me think of little else.  Normally I take a break between books, you know so my head doesn't explode and stuff?  But NO!  Jack wouldn't shut up.  He just had to get his time in the spotlight without care for anything other than his needs!  Just wait, you'll get it!  So who the hell is Jack, and why should you care?  I've been asking myself that same question and man let me tell you, he has NO problem telling you exactly why he's going to rock your world! Instead of me explaining, he can tell you himself.

Who am I?  (chuckles deeply)  Jack Duncan of course.  Unless you've been living under a rock for the last five years, you've heard my name.  To put it simply, I'm whomever I tell you I am.  Some see that as egotistical, but since my company pulled in
close to 2.5 billion dollars last year, I truly don't care what people think.  What I want, I get.  It's just that black and white.  Sure, there have been those that thought they could resist my demands, but ask them in the end who won.  I did.  And why?  Because I don't take no for an answer.

You want to play in my world?  Then you play by my rules.  If you don't, I promise at any given time there are hundreds of you's out there willing to take your place.  Unless I've deemed you worthy, I  won't lose a minutes sleep if you decide you can't handle the intensity required to be a part of the empire that is all Jack! That's right, I do talk about myself in the third person, or the first or second.  Have a problem with that?  It's not mine, it's yours.  You'll learn.

Okay Jack, back up just a minute.  I get that you think you're all that, but surely there's someone in your life that doesn't bow down and kiss your ass?

You think?  The only people not bowing down, kissing my ass as you so eloquently put it, are the ones that I either: A) Have already shown  how incompetent they are and are most likely still reeling from having me wipe the floor with their remains.  Or B) Falling under my well constructed plans and don't have a clue that they will be kneeling at my feet before I'm done with them.  There truly is only black and white in my world. The only variation is the one I'm allowing, and believe me if I'm doing the grey, it's because I know that sooner or later they'll fall into place.

I think if you weren't so sexy, people would figure out what a true son of a bitch you truly are.

Do I detect a little jealousy there?  Don't worry when I'm finished putting my plan in action, maybe I'll give you a night with me.  That's really what the issue is here, isn't it?  I know how much you want me, what woman wouldn't?  Maybe if you beg nicely, I'll fit you in sooner.

Screw you Jack!  I hear you're being taken off the market.  Does your newest little fling have any idea what she's getting into?

Like I said, make an appointment.  I don't know what you've heard, to be honest I don't care, but if you're referring to Emily?  Let's just say she's special.  All she needs to know about me is what I decide to tell her. Emily has something I want and doesn't play in the same circles.  That's all you need to know about her.  Just so you understand, I don't like it when people interfere with my personal business.  For your sake, I'd drop any interest you might have in her.  This meeting is over.  And just so we're very clear, I think it's best you don't return.

What's wrong Jack?  Has someone finally gotten underneath that cold blooded skin of yours?

You're treading on very thin ice here.  I'm sure you know the way out, so why don't you find it.  My secretary will validate your parking, but just so we're clear?  Start digging around for information about Emily and you'll never work in this country again.  Remember I don't make threats lightly.

That was my very short, but intense interview with billionaire business mogul,  Jack Duncan.  Believe me it wasn't something I'd like to repeat.  To his favor, the man is drop-dead gorgeous, but he has enough ego for three men and obviously became very touchy when I touched on the topic of his new girlfriend.

As a journalist, you knew I had to follow up with the newest flavor in his life.  I'll post the results from that interview soon.  Believe me when I say getting her alone was the greatest feat of my career.  Jack is very protective of this girl and the story will blow your mind!

You don’t know Jack, yet.  Once you do he’s impossible to forget.  He’s a ruthless, cold-hearted son of a bitch, and that’s just in the boardroom. Jack is also devilishly handsome, has a magnetic personality, and an ability to make you forget any reason you might have to deny him.

I met him on a whim, a simple woman who wanted the experience of meeting a billionaire for no other reason than to say I’d done so.  To my good fortune, or lack thereof, he saw something in me that piqued his interest.  I was enthralled from the first moment he said my name.

Like I said, you don’t know Jack, yet.  What he wants, he gets, and for some unfathomable reason, he wanted me.  Jack said I was untainted, someone he could mold into his version of perfection.  Before I understood what that meant, it was too late.  When a man like Jack decides you’re his, all you can do is hope to survive the aftermath of whatever plans he has.    Read the Excerpt!

Release Day: Consumed - Fantasy's Bar & Grill

Miles prepares for a fantasy that is just as much his own as the woman who desired it.  Can a virgin understand the concept of a sexual fantasy, and will Miles find he’s not as professional as he thought when living out a desire he’s had for a long time?  Amber may look like a little pixie doll but she’s been waiting on this experience for a lifetime.

Samson and Zoey are dealing with issues in their complicated relationship and things are reaching her tolerance level.  Will she be strong enough to deal with any scenario that Samson throws her way, or decide that having him isn’t worth the limits he pushes her past?

Leon helped Leif discover that there was more to sexuality than just heterosexual love, but can he take the next step and accept the relationship Leon craves for them to have?  What happens when all your boundaries are exceeded?

He held the door and I walked down the long hall to the elevator.  When I finally reached the top floor, I quickly made my way to Miles’s door.  He answered himself so I assumed he gave his servant the night off.  Being embraced in his arms gave me even more confidence, and I returned it quickly.

“Amber’s in the restroom, a little attack of nerves I think.” He looked worried, and my thoughts about what I was going to deal with suddenly disappeared at his concern.  I knew this was something he wanted, and I hoped she wasn’t having second thoughts. I know, that was very generous of me.

“Should I go talk to her?” Seeing this gorgeous man with that frown on his face was not making me happy.

“I know it’s asking a lot but would you?  No idea what goes on in a woman’s mind before something like this.”  I gave a subtle nod, and walked back to talk to her.  I could only imagine what she was feeling right now and that made me have a little pity.

Knocking on the door, I waited for what seemed like forever before she answered.  It didn’t take long to figure out that she was terrified.  Any thoughts of animosity I had against this woman evaporated. I pulled her into a tight hug.  “Everything will be fine.” Hell, she was shaking like a leaf and it was hard not to have a little human compassion.

“What if it’s not?  I mean I obviously suck at this or I wouldn’t be paying for someone to do the deed.  Maybe this was just a stupid idea.” She was clinging to me and my heart seriously just bled for her.

“You don’t suck at anything hon, you just haven’t experienced it yet.  Miles doesn’t expect you to do anything except enjoy yourself.  So don’t worry about it. All you have to do here tonight is let him take the lead.”  I pulled back so I could read her face and smiled warmly.  “Besides I’ll be here with you and I promise that nothing that you don’t want to happen will even be thought of.”

Sam walked out of the kitchen and into the living room and sat on the sofa. Gray followed behind her and sat at the opposite end. He faced her and rubbed his face in his hands.

“I'm so sorry, Sam. I shouldn't have lied to you. I didn't know how you would handle the fact that I was going to be there with Suzanne. I know we have talked about being open and honest and I am so, so, sorry. I swear to you I’ll never do it again, ever. And for the record, that picture was not what it looks like. We did not spend a happy day together. I got there at the very end of the Grandparents Day gathering and Suzanne told Lily to come and ask me to have her picture taken with me. We were posing for our picture and Suzanne jumped in the picture at the last minute. I swear to you that’s what happened.”

Sam turned her head and looked out the window.
She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “I can't be in a relationship like this. I want better—no lies, no manipulation. We’ve talked about this. I can't do it.”

Gray gasped like she had hit him. “Sam, please no, please forgive me. I swear to you I’ll never lie to you again, I swear it. I didn't want this scene, that's why I didn't say anything.”

Sam jumped up off the sofa. She was pissed. “This scene is happening because YOU LIED, you son of a bitch. I know that both you and Suzanne are Lily and Lincoln's grandparents. I’m not an idiot. I asked you this morning if you had anything special going on today and you said it was a regular day. YOU LIED! Did you know yesterday that you were going? For that matter, how long have you known you were going to Lily’s school for Grandparents Day?”

Gray looked up at her. He had a tear sliding
down his cheek. “I knew Wednesday.”

She was stunned; he had been lying for three days.
“You fucking jerk, you make me fall in love with you and you lie to me. You son of a bitch.”

She started to walk away, but Gray jumped up and grabbed her. She tried squirming away, but he wouldn't let her go.

“Please calm down and talk to me. Don't run away, please Sam.”

She fought to get away, but he was holding her tight. She finally quit fighting him and stood there, tears running down her face.
“Bastard.”

“You can call me all the names you want, I deserve it.”
Gray’s breathing was ragged and he was sucking in deep breaths, trying to calm himself down. He wrapped his arms around her, tightly.

“Sam, you said you love me, is that true? Do you love me, Sam?”
Oh my God, she did say that! Crap, she did say it, and she did love him, but right now was not when she felt like saying it to him again. She was not going to tell him she loved him right now. Gray tightened his hold on her, they stood there for a long time. After a while he started rocking them back and forth, slowly, back and forth, back and forth. She heard him sniff and she could hear his heartbeat, strong and solid. He put his hand on her head and pulled her head to his chest. He put his arm back around her to keep holding her tight. He smelled good too, dammit. They rocked back and forth for a long time, maybe ten minutes, not talking, just rocking; she did feel calmer.

When he sensed that she had calmed down, he pulled his arms away slowly, he reached down and put his fingers under her chin and pulled her face up to his, as she looked into his eyes, she could see he had been crying too.

“I love you, Sam. I think I loved you from the first moment I saw you, but one thing I know for sure is I love you now. Please don't leave me. Please try and work it out with me, please. I swear I will never lie to you again. I swear it.”

“Tell me why you really did it.”

She stepped back and looked at him. She needed him to look at her and tell her the truth.

Gray shook his head back and forth. “Sam, I really didn’t know how you would handle it. I meant to tell you, I tried a couple of times but I just couldn’t get the words out. I didn’t want to hurt your feelings, I would never try to hurt your feelings. I didn’t know if I should invite you to come with me and I knew that Suzanne would be there, although she spends no time with the kids, I’m sure she was there because she wanted to do just what she did, manipulate the situation to look like something it wasn’t.
“After a little while, it seemed like too much time had passed and I had already lied to you on Wednesday when I told you there was nothing special going on this week and I was scared. I swear it, it’s the truth.”

Sam took a deep breath and turned to sit on the sofa. She put her head in her hands and looked down for a while. She needed a little time to process this information.

I was born in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri named Bridgeton. During my time in Missouri, I explored the Ozarks, swam in the Mississippi River, played kickball and endless games of hide and seek with the neighborhood kids. Spending summers in Kentucky with my Grandmother, Ruth, are the fondest childhood memories for me.

At the age of thirteen, my family moved to Wisconsin to learn to farm. Yes, learn to farm! That was interesting. Taking city kids and throwing them on a farm with twenty-eight cows purchased from the Humane Society because they had been abused, was interesting. I learned to milk cows, the ins and outs of a breeding schedule, feeding schedule and the never ending haying in the summer and trying to stay warm in the winter. Our first winter in Wisconsin, we had thirty-six inches of snow in one storm and were snowed in our house for three days! Needless to say, I wasn’t loving Wisconsin.

I am now married with four children and two grandchildren and a new one on the way this summer. I have learned to love Wisconsin, though I still hate snow. Wisconsin and the United States are beautiful and my husband and I travel around by motorcycle seeing new sites and meeting new people. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are interested in where we are going and what we have seen along the way. At every gas station, restaurant and hotel, we have people come up to us and ask us about what we are doing and offering advice on which roads in the area are better than others and great rides others have been on if we are interested.

I come from a family of veterans. My grandfather, father, brother and two of my sons and one daughter-in-law are all veterans. Needless to say, I am proud. Proud to be an American and proud of the service my amazing family has given.

Too much. Too much, he said. My hopes and heart fell into the pit of my stomach as my eyes dropped to my clasped hands. I felt a fat tear hit the back of my hand as the disappointment washed over me.
Without taking the chance of looking at Cody and seeing his displeasure I turned and literally ran downstairs. I dashed out to the barn, finding Chris there putting the horses away for the day.

“Cuz, what’s wrong?” He asked worriedly.

“Give me Pony boy!” I ordered, swinging onto the horse and flying out of the barn.

I pushed Pony hard, harder than I should have as I rode for the pond. I didn’t know what to do, what to think, other than the fact that I apparently had screwed up the best thing I’d ever had happen in my life. With a heavy heart and tears streaming down my cheeks I slid out of the saddle and crumbled against the trunk of a tree. I buried my head in my arms and cried.
