I think it's no secret at Tears of Crimson, we are huge supporters of vaping for smoking cessation. So this latest move by our government and private delivery companies like USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL, has really made me angry. Before we go any further let me explain this is for business to consumer and not business to business. That means Vape shops can still get vaping supplies, but for all those people in rural areas with no vape shops? They are out of luck. This means that the only recourse they have will be to go back to DEADLY cigarette smoking. How did this happen? Our congress of course. They slid it into a relief bill like thieves in the night stealing adult rights away. Nothing shocking there. So let's get into the skinny of what happened and why these delivery companies have decided to take away your adult right to choose vaping products by mail.
How did this happen? Well, originally in April of 2019 Sen. Feinstein, Dianne [D-CA] (and she had had plenty of co-sponsors) introduced a bill titled Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act. This bill set out to do the following:
- This bill revises requirements regarding the sale and delivery of electronic nicotine delivery systems (e.g., e-cigarettes, e-hookah, e-cigars, and vape pens)
- subjects the sale and delivery of these systems to certain requirements, including tax, licensing, and labeling requirements;
- prohibits the sale and delivery of these systems to anyone under the legal age to purchase tobacco products; and
- requires the U.S. Postal Service to implement regulations to prohibit the mailing of these systems.
So Fast Forward to December of 2020, and a new COVID-19 bill buried deep in the package (page 5,136) SEC. 601. This title may be cited as the ‘‘Preventing Online Sales of E-Cigarettes to Children Act’’. It was one of those dark seedy things they slid in under a bill that was supposed to give relief to people that needed a stimulus check and virtually threw every vaping individual and company under a bus (which I'm sure gives big pharma a huge boon for their failed smoking cessation products since you can still get those products).
What this bill effectively does, is shut down every business that relies on shipping from product to consumer, so again taking jobs from thousands of Americans all under the guise that they are "saving the children" who are already banned from buying vaping products. You can read more about all of this at Greg Connely's website, who goes into much greater detail.
Our government, in their cancel culture decision, has effectively cut off millions of Americans from having access to life-saving vaping devices, e-liquid, and the ADULT choice to choose their smoking cessation devices. It doesn't seem to matter to them that 400,000 American adults each year die from smoking complications, or that thousands of people diagnosed with COPD have proven with results from physicians that vaping has helped give them the opportunity to breathe again. Who does this help? Big Pharmacy and Government depending on tobacco taxes (smoking) to boost their budgets. Your health is really not their concern, money is, and your rights as an adult are being SOLD to support their greedy needs.
All of this could have easily been worked out with requiring a signature for delivery of products. They chose not to go that route. Welcome to the US government deciding to take away yet another right in your adult life.
