He held the door and I walked down the long hall
to the elevator. When I finally reached
the top floor, I quickly made my way to Miles’s door. He answered himself so I assumed he gave his
servant the night off. Being embraced in
his arms gave me even more confidence, and I returned it quickly.
“Amber’s in the restroom, a little attack of
nerves I think.” He looked worried, and my thoughts about what I was going to
deal with suddenly disappeared at his concern.
I knew this was something he wanted, and I hoped she wasn’t having
second thoughts. I know, that was very generous of me.
“Should I go talk to her?” Seeing this gorgeous
man with that frown on his face was not making me happy.
“I know it’s asking a lot but would you? No idea what goes on in a woman’s mind before
something like this.” I gave a subtle
nod, and walked back to talk to her. I could
only imagine what she was feeling right now and that made me have a little
pity.
Knocking on the door, I waited for what seemed like
forever before she answered. It didn’t
take long to figure out that she was terrified.
Any thoughts of animosity I had against this woman evaporated. I pulled
her into a tight hug. “Everything will
be fine.” Hell, she was shaking like a leaf and it was hard not to have a
little human compassion.
“What if it’s not? I mean I obviously suck at this or I wouldn’t
be paying for someone to do the deed. Maybe
this was just a stupid idea.” She was clinging to me and my heart seriously
just bled for her.
“You don’t suck at anything hon, you just haven’t
experienced it yet. Miles doesn’t expect
you to do anything except enjoy yourself.
So don’t worry about it. All you have to do here tonight is let him take
the lead.” I pulled back so I could read
her face and smiled warmly. “Besides
I’ll be here with you and I promise that nothing that you don’t want to happen
will even be thought of.”
